Discover your local history at Auckland’s Historical Village

Howick Historical Village is a special day out for the whole family to experience a slice of history and learn a little of what daily life was like for early settlers in Auckland in the 1800s.

The Village is also a great place to entertain your visitors and learn a little about New Zealand history.

Bring a picnic, enjoy our heritage gardens and have fun exploring.

The Museum Shop

The newly-renovated gift shop at Howick Historical Village is a source of New Zealand-made tasteful and well-priced gifts.

We stock homeware, jewellery, books, candles and old fashioned sweets. Browse our new range of solid moisturisers packaged in eco-friendly wax wraps.

Purchase seeds gathered from plants within the Village to grow in your own garden.

Call in and find a treasure to take home as a memento of your visit to our living museum.

The Homestead Café

The Homestead Cafe at the Howick Historical Village offers genuine home cooking in a historical setting. Enjoy indoor ambience or outdoor charm with your friends and family. Even in the middle of winter you can soak up the sun while enjoying a leisurely coffee.

In keeping with the old world charm and character of the heritage building, our food reflects good home-cooked fare.
