As an extension of Matariki, join carver, artist and cultural facilitator Calvin Devine (Ngāpuhi) in a 2-hour, hands-on whakairo (carving) workshop. Create your own waka hourua (double-hulled canoe) using traditional techniques. Learn about Kupe’s journey to Aotearoa and Te-Wheke using an indigenous compass and navigation by the stars.
Step back in time, learn skills from the past and experience some of the work done every day, in hands-on activities with costumed guides. With games, crafts and more!
